|Before I try Offline Explorer, I am looking for something to replace Onfolio, I would like to know if it can work nicely with alternative search engines.
I see that it has its own search facility, but that is yesterday's model. Recent developments with "desktop searchers" make it easier to search material on your PC gathered by different tools. Acrobat files, email and so on.
I want something that grabs web pages in a way that I can work with X1, my preferred search tool.

|I think, it should work with the search engine, because Offline Explorer saves all Web pages as they are on the disk. No special file format, etc. So, any search engine can be used to index the download directory (specified in the Options dialog - File Locations) and search within it.
