aspx files not downloaded as html file

Our site is made of .Net framwework; therefore, all the web pages have .aspx extension. Right now I am using the trial version of offline Explorer Pro 4.8. The product is not downloading the aspx files as html file, which is a problem, because when I click the downloaded file it shows me the code and not the html.

Example:
http://www.halliburton.com/divisions/Default.aspx?navid=236&pageid=686

The above url is downloaded as
File Name: Defaultaspx?navid=236&pageid=686
Extension: ASPX?NAVID=236&PAGEID=686

So when I click the downloaded file it shows me the script and not the html. It is not giving the correct extension to the file.

Please use the File - Export feature to add standard extensions to the pages. This will work well.

it worked!

Thanks for the fast reply. This is the first time that I received any reply from a technical support team of a company who develops offline website product. I have been trying to find a company who has a good product and have an active technical support. Looks like I got one!

I also noticed that it only downloads images, css, js, and few aspx pages. >

I want to download the completed benefits site so I uncheked the level checkbox, but didn't see any impact. Is there some limitations on the trial version?

What about adding PDF and other document extensions to the File Filters - Other section. Make sure that its Location box is "Load from any site". Use URL Filters - Directory to allow from the starting directory only.

There is no option to add pdf or any other extension to the File Filters - Other section. I just see the location box and File Size option.

I also tried putting pdf and other extensions to File Filters - User Defined section, but still not downloading the file. If it works then I want to download the documents only from the locations that I specified in the URL Filters. I also see that Level functionality doesn't work if I uncheck it to do unlimited spidering.

Didn't hear back from you. I am running the trial version and will decide in buying multiple copies of the software if the above desired feature works.

I visited the site and it looks like I have to logon http://resources.hewitt.com/halliburtonbenefits/ . Is it so?

I loaded that page with all its PDFs. It is easy. I published the Project in the Companies section (Tools - Published Projects menu).

Yes, it is because MS IE has security precautions and it doesn't allow PDFs and ACtiveX elements to be run from the disk. You should either open them with another browser (like FireFox) or browse from the disk with Windows Explorer.

You are right. I opened with Firefox and it worked. Is there anyway I can open it in IE by changing the configuration in IE.

It is a big relief now that the tool works.

Another issue popped up while working with the tool on our intranet site:

Our intranet url looks like: http://intranet.corp.xxx.com
There is an event site on the intranet: http://intranet.corp.xxx.com/events
In the above event site I have links to our public site, which includes pdf, doc, and web pages and their url looks like:
http://www.halliburton.com/public/press/news.doc,
http://www.halliburton.com/news/default.aspx?pageid=12

How can I make sure that intranet events site is downloaded along with all the public site urls referred in the events site pages are also downloaded.

I tried different configuration, but somehow they are not working correctly.

Thanks
Nirdesh

What about the following way - you would use URL Filters - Server section and allow only the starting server. Also, allow up to 1 external link to be loaded. In URL Filters Directory and Filename sections allow load from all...

Yes. Export with the "Add original URL" box unchecked.

Sure. Please see in the Help file for undocumented Registry values. There is one that will do that.

Thanks

If our users are not computer savvy to work with the registry, is it possible to remove the tags without going to the registry.

There are two ways:

1. I can make a special version for your users that will do this. But it will be harder to support it. Everytime you need an update, you will have to request me.
2. To create a Registry file (with .reg extension) that has to be run to make changes to the Registry.

What would you prefer?
