MSNBC Videos?

Recently I installed OEP version 3.9.2104 and am evaluating it. I wanted to grab a video off of the MSNBC website and it`s related page(s) but so far have been unsuccessful and I`ve tried multiple configurations. I ran a search in the forums and discovered a similar issue someone was having back in 2003 and wanted to know if Offline Explorer Pro has since been given the ability to grab streams off that site?

Can you please tell me a URL of a page that contains link to a video stream? I will look at it and let you know what can be done.

Thank you!

The clips look like some kind of embedded player/link. I`ve tried searching at level zero and with a limited level and with Evaluate Script Calculations checked without luck and haven`t even been able to obtain a direct url for the stream.

Thanks for the help.

You can try to right-click the popup window with the page and the embedded clip and choose Properties. Copy the URL of the page and create a new Project with Level=1 and this URL. This should help.

Okay I tried loading the pop-up page url into OEP with level of 1 and it didn`t load the page competely. So I tried upping the level a little but and the best I can get so far is what appears to be the portion of that page where the clip should be but but it doesn`t actually produce the clip. The page shows "Loading..." under the MSN Video text at the top but it`s a static image and doesn`t load it.

Can you please select that Project and expore its Map to find and play the actual video clip?

Sometimes embedded clips do not work inside pages from the disk, but can be played by themselves.

Yes, I believe I`ve run across that before. I`ve run a search for any files in the appropriate directories that would be large enough to constitute a clip but it doesn`t show up. I`ve also checked my Temporary Internet Files folder while playing a video from the MSN site outside of OEP. I`ve noticed that sometimes I can see a streaming clip in there and use the right-click and "Properties" approach to get the exact URL of the mms stream. Oddly enough though when it comes to the MSN site it seams that only the advertisement clips that play before the clip I`ve requested show up in that folder and never the main clip. I don`t know if that gives you any indication of just what kind of beast we`re dealing with here or how to kill it but I`m just grasping at straws at this point.

In case it might have anything to do with it I`ve got the program set up to use the internal server.

I tried several possible ways to solve this puzzle, but failed. They use a Flash applet to play the video, so it is impossible to even get the URL of the clip. Sorry.
