OE crash

I have one small project set up that continously checks a site (via the sequencer) for new images on one page and downloads them. But about one day ( had happen it twice now ) OE crashes (the first time it crashed, even the project settings for this project were deleted).

This is the message I got when it last crashed.

AppName: oe.exe AppVer: 3.9.0.2070 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 00018fea

Is there any logging available or so, that I could turn on, so you can investigate this?

By the way, I also noticed that when running OE on large download projects, it get`s slower and slower after a few days and the swap file usage increases more and more. If I then exit OE and restart it, all is fine again.

Yes, you can run it this way:

oe.exe /log=c:\oe.log

The file will be too long, but I need just a megabyte of the last lines of the log. Please zip the truncated log before sending it to me. Thank you!

thx. I enable logging and will get you the log file once it crashed the next time. Do you also have any idea in regards to the behaviour of OE getting slower and slower after some days ?

Thx

Does this affect downloading speed, parsing or the general UI performance?

It is very very hard to tell. Basically what I experienced several time after running it for days with a project is that it becomes totally unresponsive (with map files already disabled) and downloads are getting slower and slower.

Please watch the Parsing (XX) number in the Status bar - if it is very big then suspending the download until all files are parsed may help.

Actually that can`t be the reason. The project I am working on is one where the URL list comes from file list with like 200.000 single urls and the project is set to only download this one url (only the html).

Do you have the Directory Overload Protection enabled in the Options | File Locations?

No. I will try that first. Didn`t know what that option does.

Thx

When there are too many files get saved in the same directory, it can be overloaded and the system slows down significantly when any program accesses it. This option tells OE to create subdirectories when there are over 1000 files in it.

Thx a lot. That would by the way a nice option to have on a project basis and not only as a global setting.

It will be almost impossible. This setting is used in many things.

Does the log file get overwritten at some point? I have it enabled now and it grew beyong 100Megs and now it is down to 50Megs again.

Yes, OE removes it when it is over certain size. But it doesn`t matter in our case. I will still need only the last megabyte from it.

Thx for the info. I will just keep it running that way until it crashes the next time.
