Hi,

first of all, thanks for this great forum and special thanks to Oleg for answering all questions here.

Now my problem. One of the main reasons to buy OE Pro was to download real player videos from a web site of a german TV channel. They have selected show you can watch online and I like to copy them to my PDA to watch them while on the road. This worked perfectly for some months now but suddenly stopped working about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Not sure if they changed anything behind the scenes to stop people downloading the shows...

Here is a link to the web site: http://www.wdr.de/themen/global/webmedia/index.phtml?flash=1

Unfortunately it is a german page, but it should be easy to figure out how to start a video (e.g. try any link that is numbered from 1 to 5 in the middel frame)

In the past I just right clicked the link and selected OE - Download the link and it worked fine, but nowadays it trys to download only one file and that is not the video I was looking for.

Thank you very much for your help in advance and please excuse my terrible english :)

What are your project settings?
OEP can download the desired file(s).

One example:

-----
Uncheck "Level limit"
Download all files

URL:
http://www.wdr.de/themen/global/webmedia/php/getstream.php?urlfwd=$id$15040&np=1
Referer=http://www.wdr.de/themen/global/webmedia/index.phtml?flash=1

- File Filters -

Images:
Load from any site

Video:
Load from any site
-----

Another example:

-----
Uncheck "Level limit"
Download all files

URL:
http://www.wdr.de/themen/global/webmedia/php/getstream.php?urlfwd=$id$15040&np=1
Referer=http://www.wdr.de/themen/global/webmedia/index.phtml?flash=1

- File Filters -

Images:
Load from any site

Video:
Load using URL filters settings

- URL Filters -

Load all protocols, files from all servers and all directories.

Filename:
Custom filenames configuration:
View *excluded* files keywords:
video_isdn

(... or exclude "video_dsl" if you want to disable the download of the dsl stream)
-----

And I would recommend to download the current beta version:

Thanks for your reply. I have just installed OE Pro on a new Windows 2000 system and in deed, it works perfect again. Seems something is messed up with my main PC. I can`t remember making any changes to the system in the last weeks, the only thing I did was migrating from Norton Firewall to Zonealarm pro. I know that changing the fire wall can have a great impact on OE, but since it also did not work when I shut down Zonealarm I thought Zonealarm cant be the problem...
I have installed Zonelarm on my new Windows 2000 system and it still works fine, so no problem with Zonealarm.
Next I checked a few thousand other things :) and finally I found the problem in the OE settings. For some reason a (wrong) proxy for the RTSP protocol was entered. I switched back to `No proxy` and Yiiipiieee, it works again.

I have no idea who entered the wrong proxy in the settings. The PC is only used by me and I`m 100% sure I didn`t enter it, anyway, a big thanks to Mr Anonymous. Saying that it works fine for you motivated me to check everything carefully. I really though the web page had changed and never thought the problem is my local system, hehe :)

And also thanks for the tip to exclude `video_isdn` from the file names. I always cancelled it manually when it was downloading, but excluding it makes it much more comfortable.

Btw, I also un-check the `Archive` and `Other` File Filters and then only the 2 media files (the isdn and dsl one) are downloaded. I found this out by try and error, hehe :)

Thanks again !!

No problem, and maybe Oleg can say more about the mentioned proxy settings behaviour..

Yes, a little bit.
I only have a few Projects in which I don`t make use of URL filename filters. And there are perhaps a lot of other features that could be useful for you. Just one example for the WDR site:

----------
Uncheck "Level limit"
Download all files

URL:
http://www.wdr.de/themen/global/webmedia/php/getstream.php?urlfwd=$id$15040&np=1
Referer=http://www.wdr.de/themen/global/webmedia/index.phtml?flash=1

Images:

Video:
Load using URL filters settings

- URL Filters -

Load all protocols, files from all servers and all directories.

Filename:
Custom filenames configuration:
View *excluded* files keywords:
video_isdn

(... or exclude "video_dsl" if you want to disable the download of the dsl stream)

- Advanced -

URL Substitutes...

1. Substitute:

URL:
rtsp://*.rm

Replace:
rtsp://*.rm

With:
WDR_VIDEOS/{:year}-{:0month}-{:0day}_{:0hour}-{:0minute}_{:ProjectName}.rm

(Change the name in the way you like it)
Click on "Add" and *uncheck* the rule

2. Substitute:

URL:
rtsp://*.smil*

Replace:
rtsp://**.smil*

With:
WDR_VIDEOS/{:year}-{:0month}-{:0day}_{:0hour}-{:0minute}_{:ProjectName}.smil

(Change the name in the way you like it)
Click on "Add" and *uncheck* the rule
----------

If you don`t want to keep the smil files, you could do the following:

-----
- File Filters -

Text:
- Enable the Text filter (temporarily)
- Add "smil" to the extensions list
- Disable the Text filter (in order to avoid the saving of the smil file on your HDD)

(Delete the 2. Substitute rule.)

Oh, by "try and error"? Hmm, I thought that this would have been obvious!? I only mentioned the "File Filters" categories which have to be enabled.

Wow, thanks for the tips. Especially the URL substitution of the .rm file looks very useful. I cant try it this week because I`m travelling around but will do it at the weekend. Looks like I dont have to rename the .rm file manually anymore :)

OE Pro is an extremely useful and powerful tool, too bad I dont have the time to get used to all the festures...

Maybe it would be a good idea to add a `Best practice` section somewhere on the web site where some basic features e.g. URL substitution are explained with an example. This could be helpful for people who dont have time to read all the documentation and just need to get a few ideas what features might be useful for them.

Well, maybe such a section exists already and I haven`t found it, hehe :) but I`m happy that I found this forum. It is great to get help from other people and the forum is a great pool to get ideas..

The problem with such tips is that every site is almost unique and in most cases you still have to look at it to see which way is the best to download it.

Oleg.
