407 Proxy Authentication Required
|Doug||04/22/2004 11:14 am|
|I have been able to use your software to download our public site, which is http:, but I have not had any success with our internal https sites. Our company uses a Proxy Server. I`ve just had our LAN specialist inspect my Offline Explorer Proxy settings, and he confirmed that they are correct. However, I continue to get "407 Proxy Authentication Required" errors. I`ve tried using the name of the proxy server (which is what I have in my IE settings) as well as the IP address. It is pingable. The proxy port matches my IE settings. I`ve tried the username with and without domain. I`ve tried with and without NTLM. There are not that many different options, but no combination has worked. The LAN specialist suspects that your package is not authenticating properly.
Here is a copy of the log documenting the failure. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you. ~Doug

What if you turn off the proxy server option when loading your internal HTTPS sites? In most cases, Internal Web sites are located inside Intranets before the proxy.
Does this help?

|Your suggestion did not work. Our LAN specialist looked over my initial note and said I should leave HTTP/HTTPS out of the picture, because they are not involved in any way. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks.|

|What do you mean "I should leave HTTP/HTTPS out of the picture"?

|I just made some changes in the code that may help. Can you please download the updated oe.exe file here:
Please replace the old oe.exe file with the new one.
Does it help?

Oleg, I just today reached the end of my 30-day evaluation period, so I am unable to test. (I thought I had one more day!) During these 30 days, while I have struggled on my own to overcome the proxy issue, I was also reviewing your competitors, and have rejected InternetSnake, Rafabot, WebCopier, WebSite ExTractor, WebZip6, and WinMHT. I need another 30 day eval period, if possible, please. Could you please advise? Thank you.
