I haven`t been using OEP for very long, so this is the first problem I`ve come across. I can`t seem to get the following URL downloaded. I`ve tried everything I know (which isn`t much!), and nothing is working. Is it possible to download this type of file?

http://www.kinepolis.be/TrailerPopup/TrailerPopup.cfm?movieName=LOVE%20ACTUALLY%20&language_Code=ENG&trailerID=2723&ident_site_ID=359&country_ID=B

By the way, I LOVE this software! Thanks so much!

Kathy,

I tried to make Offline Explorer to load such Flash file, but it calculates a dynamic URL inside and it is impossible to make the download. Sorry.

Put the following into OE pro:
http://www.kinepolis.be/Kinepolis_Overall/Media/trailers/loveactually_Broadband.swf

It will download the flash file with the video contained within the flash.

There is no url to decode within the flash because it isn`t streaming video or audio - the audio and video are contained within the flash. To test it download the above file - disconnect your modem/cablemodem/dsl connection so you are offline. Open the swf file in IE and watch the video and sound.

If you want to extract the video and sound out of the swf you can try some of the extractor/decompiler tools on www.swftools.com - however note that it will extract video and sound separately - so you would have to mux them back together again to make a video file with sound. Probably just easier to play the swf file in IE.

Hello Patrick,

How did you manage to know that this is the link to download the video.
Often I see flash files that in my opinion (I`m a newbie) are flash files nested into flash files and I can`t download them, only the first one. Maybe your explanation can help me to understand how to do it.

Thanks

Generally I pick the easy way and just use a program like URL Snooper (or Commview). URL Snooper is free and it`s main purpose was to find streaming video links - but it works for finding direct links to flash files. Basically you install - click on snoop - click on the flash link - and then go back to url snooper and look through the various links it found looking for a swf file link.
Of course this doesn`t work well if you have lots of links to download - and if OE pro cannot find the links directly from the site. But if you just want a few flash files to download - on a site here and there - it works fine.

There is a simple trick to see which files are necessary (and were not loaded) - open the Log Window (Ctrl-W), right-click inside the Log Window and uncheck Pause, then keep checked only the "Requests to the Internal Server" in the Filter submenu. Now when you browse a Web page, you will see all files that the page requires. The ones that have 404 status are the missing ones.

This way you will have an idea about what was not loaded.
