Downloaded RTSP files appear to be not playable

I downloaded a 20mins RealVideo file which has the streaming flow of 350Kbps.

However, when the download completed and when I played the file, it appears to get stuck at the begining, and RealPlayer shows "Loading 100%", and the picture is dark.

When I shuffled to the middle of the file, it shows "Loading 99%" and a broken blurry frame. It still doesn`t play.

But when I repeated downloading the same file for the second or third time, the problem somehow disappeared and the downloaded file plays properly.

The problem also happened randomly to other RTSP downloads from the same site, so in most cases, I have to download a single file for multiple times to get the normal result.

It`s causing too much trouble. How can I solve the problem?

An example of the URL is: http://www.rthk.org.hk/rthk/tv/hkcc/20020505.ram

Dear Sir,

Yes, it is a known problem. We are working to fix it.

A simple workaround is the following - please go to the Options dialog | Speed section and set higher or maximum RTSP bandwidth there. Click OK button. This should help.

I still have the same problem. When are you guys expected to release a patch?

I can`t tell you exactly. The problem is that .RM files format is not published. We have to guess how it should be to work. One part of RM files format is still a problem for us - its INDEX part. We are working to understand how it should be correctly assembled. I hope that we will find this out, but I cannot tell you exactly when this happens.

Sorry for that.

Oleg.

look into your temp files of your browser, there should be a file with a ram ext,(like jye2hgtfkjrebftkw1.ram) copy this file to another dir than select change name, and chang the ext into (.txt) now you have the real download location, copy and paste into offline explo and download it!!
It works for me!!
