When you unable "shutdown when completed" in the options menue, next time you start a new project, if you don`t take care: your computer turns off without any warning.
A timed out warning shoul be welcome, I think
Thanks
Oleg.
Can you please tell me more on the above? How would you suggest to improve it? Also, OE Pro contains Sequencer, which allows to run Projects one-by-one.
Oleg.
Yes it was me upon I discovered OE. Was dealing 2 years with “Teleport pro” till I got into an issue in managing duplicated file names. The support insisted it was not a bug. Looking for another offline browser was so hard and I tried lots. OE pro seems to be the fastest and the most reliable with a very good support. Wanted to help people when choosing in a so crowded market with many "bad and false features announcements" in software. I even posted messages in the “Webcopier” forum and in many sites where it was reviewed to warn people on it’s bug in parsing long projects. I was about to buy it when I discovered that. Although I`m still trying OE pro, I think it will be my last choice, for now.
OE is good for at least an average user. For the beginner, many functions are hard to find. The Sequencer, that I didn`t see when I wrote the review. Saving project maps is also not evident: a function with "save project as..." would be more evident. The better will be a more complete wizard on starting the program, where you can choose folder locations too. Other options such as "hang-up when finished", "shut down"... should be accessible via icons in the menu.
More help on the "resume function" by keeping .primary files also. Just a button with "resume" and another with “restart project” is more evident than first turning on or off" don`t load existing files" and then checking "keep all .primary files".
Parsing a project to the Joliet FS could be on the fly too in the translation menue, instead of being hidden in the export function.
These are personal suggestions, many questions in the forum concern these features even for “mass downloader” which uses the same interface. Many chose “Getright” or “Gozilla” because they are very simple and evident for the beginner. Others stick on "Webzip" instead of OE for the same reasons even if it`s so less complete and very obsolete.
For me, OE is the most powerful program. But many of my friends didn`t like it because it was for them "confusing". WebCopier which is the worst program has many success because it is friendship, it`s the same for Webzip and Teleport pro.
Most PC users are actually beginners that don`t like looking deep in "options" and "menus".
Anyway, I think OE pro is really the best one in its category actually and I just was disturbed by not seeing it in the “editor’s choice” of reviewers which prefer buggy software like Webcopier, Webzip, Teleport pro, Leech, WebMiner,…
Hope this will help, and meanwhile, congratulations for your support and program.

Yes, it is a problem, but when you have too0 many feature in a program, you have to make only most used ones in the front of a user. Otherwise, the program will look overcomplicated, which novices do not like either. We are trying to maintain simplicity and logic in user interfaces of all our programs.

What do you mean about saving Projects and Maps? They are saved totally automatically. I see no sence to keep them in separate files and have users to open/save them all the time. It is much easier to have them on the screen all the time.
> The better will be a more complete wizard on starting the program, where you can choose folder locations too.
As you know, Offline Explorer Pro allows to setup download directory for its folders only, not for individual Projects. So, you will only need to move your Project to a folder with certain download directory. This should be easy.
> Other options such as "hang-up when finished", "shut down"... should be accessible via icons in the menu.
It is possible now. You can right-click on Toolbar and customize it to drag the desired buttons there. Shutdown/Hangup buttons are included there. We haven`t placed them there by default because the toolbar will be too long, especially on 800x600 screens, which are still widely used nowdays.

In the latest version I added a submenu to the Start button, where you can easily choose which way to load the Project. I think, it is a good way. What do you think?
The latest update is:

We have a serious limitation here. The main purpose for saving filenames as-is is to be able to update site easily. OE simply takes name of some file and reverts it to online state and it can go and download. If I would convert all filenames to Joliet or 8+3 form, I would have to keep a huge database of all filenames and their online URLs. For huge sites it will be a great waste of disk space and CPU power when redownloading.
Also, most people use OE for offline browsing and export to CDs is a more rare operation. So I decided to optmize its primary goal.

Thank you for your help! I understand the "simplicity" problem very well. Maybe you may have some recommenda
So I will just explain my only real problem with OE pro. About the save project option: You work with a large web-site that you like to update regularly (like a medical reference where new issues in the diseases are found every day). These updates, you’d like to burn them on a CD regularly to keep it up to date. Currently, with OE pro, you need to resume the download with the option “keep .primary files” and “don’t load existing files”. After it, you need to export again the whole project (instead of only new files) to the Joliet FS since it can’t be done on the fly. You also have to manually save “project files” on the CD from windows explorer since they’re not exported. And you have to always keep a copy of the original website downloaded with all .primary files thus resulting in quiet 3 copies of the files (CD, original, .primary). Without the original copy, you can never resume the project. Another approach was automatically export .primary files with project maps, so that a resume can be started from the exported project folder without the need to keep the original files.
In other words: “ you work with only one copy” and don’t have to export all the time hundred thouthends of pages for just 100 pages updated.
Well, I see your limitation of having one database with all urls and file names (Teleport pro was too much slow because of that on huge sites). But exporting all .primary files with the map file should work, no?
The new function “update project” in the 2.7 version seems nice, just maybe add it to the “context menu” too when right clicking a project and choosing download/start.
Many thanks for your support and again, OE pro is for me a complete soft that solved all my headache in offline browsing :-)
Oleg.
Oleg.
Yep, that`ll be great, such a function to export only modified files or new updated ones would be usefull. I know it`ll take time to programm it in the code but I`m not on a hurry.
The 100% issue (on the fly file name translation to deal with only one copy of a project), maybe in 3.5 or 4.0 versions :-)
Again, it was just a personal suggestion useful for my use, and maybe not for all people.
Thanks again for listening :-)

Please do the Export with and without "Fast Export" box checked and let me know if there is a significant improvement or not.
Thank you!
Oleg.
Will let you know about it
anyway, didn`t try it but at first sought, no additional options to keep already downloaded files, will this version be able to update an exported project, or it`s just an enhancement in speed of the older export function?
Oleg.
Have I to use the pro version? Is it compatible with my enterprise installation?

The box is in the Export dialog.
