RTSP with Request Parameters... (eg. ?start=00:53:44.0)

Author Message

I wanted to download some Real Stream (OE Pro really works nice with most of them now) but OE Pro doesn`t seam to recognize given start offsets like "?start=00:53:44.0" in the URL.
Will this work in future OE Pro versions?
Oleg Chernavin MP 03/29/2006 07:00 am
Thank you. We will work this in the next version. I am now in my vacation. So, when I return on Sept. 24th, I will start working on that.

I just implemented that feature.

Please download the updated oe.exe file here:
http://www.metaproducts.com/download/betas/oep976.zip

Unzip the file and replace the old one with it. Now it supports RTSP URL parameters like:
?start=00:01:5.04&end=00:20:00

> I just implemented that feature.

I have OEE 2.8.1258
The start/end parameters in rtsp:// works fine under windows 2000 but under windows 98 doesn`t.
They are just ignored and stream is downloaded from the beginning.
Is it so?
Oleg Chernavin 03/29/2006 07:00 am
This is very strange. I use Windows 98 SE myself and these parameters worked well for most links I tested. Maybe Internet connection of both computers are different? Some proxy servers may theoretically influence that.

Windows 98 is on my home computer with dial up modem (33k) connection. And I doesn`t set up any proxy server in OEE there. May be I should send a log here? I can do it tomorrow, after I get to home.

Yes, Logs from both XP and Windows 98 computers might be helpful. Thank you!

You can send it to us to support@metaproducts.com directly. Please only ZIP the log files. Thank you!

Sorry, I`ve saw your message after I send a log for win98 here. Is it enough or I should send you win2000 log too?

Can I also ask you to give me the logon information for that link to try to reproduce the problem. It could be because of the authentication, but I need to check this. You should better send it to support@metaproducts.com . This information will be used for testing purposes only.

No log from Windows 2000 is required for now.

Thank you.

Oleg.

The problem is still presented in OEE 2.9. Moreover I found that it occurs for all rtsp links even for those which doesn`t require login, password. May be something wrong with my win98SE? But with the RealPlayer I can play those links from any time offset.

And small proposition. Recently I tried to download rtsp link with login, password. Login, password are changed from time to time. When OEE download almost whole file (unfortunately in this moment the connection something degrade and OEE tried to reconnect) login, password have changed and the downloaded part was lost! So I propose to finalize the file in such a cases or ask the user to enter new login, password.
Oleg Chernavin 03/29/2006 07:00 am
OK. I will work on this. By the way, stopping the download will save the partially downloaded RTSP file as well.

is there something new to report about this feature yet?
Oleg Chernavin 03/29/2006 07:00 am
What is interesting, I made many RTSP tests after that and I never saw such error. This is really strange!

Oleg.
Danny 03/29/2006 07:00 am
actually i have this problem exactly with the same site as written above.
the problem is that it?s an paysite where you have to pay per minute you stream. so without the start&end feature downloading on this site can get expensive. (and of course i don?t get the files i wanted to)
Danny 03/29/2006 07:00 am
just have seen not the same site, my mistake
Oleg Chernavin 03/29/2006 07:00 am
In past, I tried to reproduce the problem on your site, but I had no password for it. If you have any other public RTSP URL, can you let me know. Or please provide me with a protected URL and login/password - please send them to me to support@metaproducts.com .

On several other URLs which I tried myself, everything worked well.

Oleg.
