Author Message

I used oee 4.3 downloaded a html book. The map of the project contains css, include, js, multimedia, nlreader and reader folder. I noticed the html and jpg/gif files related to the book are included in the nlreader folder. I want to know how to export these file to one chm or exe file. I tried to export the project, but failed. How should I process? I'm not familiar with oee well. Thanks for your attention!

"I failed" here means there is only the address of the project in the chm file. Something like http://www.netlibrary.com/nlreader/nlReader.dll?BookID=1650&FileName=Page_{:1..622}.html"

I'm sorry. The address in the chm is actually the name of the project. If you click it, it can turn to the first page of the html file. But there is no other pages.

Can you make the first URL of the Project the following to fix this:

http://www.netlibrary.com/nlreader/nlReader.dll?BookID=1650&FileName=Page_1.html

Thanks for your reply! I'm sorry for not grasping you. Could you give more explaination for me?
Oleg Chernavin 07/25/2006 03:45 pm
OK. Select the Project you are about to export, click the Properties button on toolbar and in the URLs field of the Project, change the URL to:

http://www.netlibrary.com/nlreader/nlReader.dll?BookID=1650&FileName=Page_1.html

Click the OK button and export the Project.

Oleg, thx for your heartly reply. But the result is the same as before. The title of the project with a link to the first page (page 1) in the chm file. I just can go through the page 1. There are no other pages. According to the size of the chm file and the proceding of exporting, it seems it really export all the pages to the chm file. But how could I read it? Is there any other possibility?
Oleg Chernavin 07/27/2006 06:50 am
OK. I added the way to export to HTML Help with Contents, which should solve your problem.

Please download the updated oe.exe file here:

Thx. I downloaded the zip file. Then extracted it and replaced the original one. When run exporting, it more quickly finished this time. It seems not work well. Also I get a *.chm file. As before, there is only the name of project with a link. But the link is wrong. It cann't go to any page correctly. Just a error page.

Is there any other way to export html files to a well-organized file? You know, there are many html files in one book. Is there any convenient way when I want to read the book? The way I got is to export all the files to a chm file. I don't know whether the chm exporting in OEE could help me that.
Oleg Chernavin 07/27/2006 12:33 pm
Please select "HTML Help with Contents" in the Export dialog - it is the last item in the list. HTML Help (CHM) is the previous way - I kept it for compatibility.

Oh. Thx. I tried it. But It cann't export full of the file, just 11k. In the chm file generated, a column added at the left, but there is only the name of project. And it's link cann't work as I said in the last answer. It's a error page.

I'm sorry for maybe I made a mistake. I just replaced the oe.exe, but I used the files I downloaded before. It seems I need download them with the new one. But unfortunatly, I can't download the files now.I don't know why. Wu~~~~. I'll try it later.

Anyway, thanks for your help!

I can't download any more.

It seems like having downloaded something from the loaded % at the bottom of the download progress bar. But there is nothing in the nreader folder. Oleg, could you help me try to download a html book from netlibrary? Is it netlibrary prohibit it. I can look through the book online with oee.

It seems there is something wrong with this procedure on computer. Maybe the oe.exe replaced maybe others. I tried uninstalling the oe and reinstalling, and the problem remained. How should I do now?

I tried to install oe on another computer, there is no problem to download.

You can try to check the NTLM box in the Options dialog - Proxy section. It may help.

Oh, sir. I selected it, the problem still existed. The page download were "document not found". Oops! I don't know what had happened. The oee on the other computer is normal. Is it possible for I used your oe.exe file? But I cleaned the register file and reinstalled it. It can't work yet. Oleg, is there any other ways I can try? Thx.

I think I found the problem. It's the OE.exe you made later. An hour ago, the original oe began to work well. As I used the newer oe.exe, it became bad as we discussed above.

This is sad. What is the version number of the oe.exe that works well now?

I see now. I sent you the Pro version, instead of Enterprise. This is why it didn't see the downloaded files, because of the different Map file format.

Why do you want .chm ?
OEE cannot do everything !

Oleg, I tried OEE 4.4, and download a html book, and the "html help with contents" item, then exported.
from the size of the chm file and the proceding of exporting, all the files has been exported into the output file. but the links of the contents are not correct, so it cann't be displayed. I think if there is problem with the "creating contents file" in exporting. Do you think so? How could I do?

Another thing, how to download all the pages of a html book? There is no problem for the text part. But the contents part alwasy lost some pages. That is to say, oee can't download all the contents pages. I used the URLs like this "http://www.netlibrary.com/nlreader/nlreader.dll?bookid=8359&filename=page_{:1..292}.html". The number 1 to 292 is the text page. there are cover page and contents page. Their page number are different, like i, ii,...etc.

Thanks.

Sorry, I am out of town now and I cannot check the first issue. Regarding the second one, Offline Explorer supports roman numbers in macros, like: {:roman:XIX..XXX}

Would that help?

Dear Kylin, I?ve tried downloading ebooks from NetLibrary without success, I think because the javascripts. Can you explain me how to do it?
Did you try to create a pdf from Adobe Acrobat 7 instead to export the project? (File...Create PDF...From Web Page... ) using as source URL the index.html downloaded project?

Thanks Kylin,

Omar

Just used the macro like Oleg gave above in the URL address. When you input {:}, it will give you hints. Or you can check help file. I don't change any other configurations.
Thanks. I don't try adobe. Maybe it can work, but there is some trouble when set the size of a page. You know, the sizes of html files are different.

I fixed the HTML Help with contents issue - it is because of too complex filenames. Now it will always have Joliet-compatible filenames. Please select this as well before export.

Great! Thanks for your kindly help.

There is a question more. How to get these files arranged according to the order of page number? You know there are some pages at the wrong order. Another little question, the number of some pages was added "5f" before the true number. Like this: www.netlibrary.......filenamepage_5f250.html. but the true number is 250.

Hi Oleg, thanks for your tool.

I wonder if there is possible to improve the two flaws when exporting html with image file to chm file in the next version:

One is ordering the many files by page number.

The other one is the image files can not be fixed in the chm file, that is the image files lost. I don't know if I mis-operated something.

With best,

Kylin

Oh. The exe can't work. The result is as I said above. It seems that all the files have been exported into exe file, observing the size of exe file. But the content is as below:

Exported Projects:

Speech and reading

Speech and reading is the name of a project with a link. But there is a wrong page link when I click it. So I can not read anything. Could you help me fix the bug?

How about the image file in chm? It seems chm with contents don't include the image files. Is there any thing I can try?

Thx!
