I subscribe to Lynda.com. I cannot save pages for offline use. Has anyone had problems with this? I tried to create a project and just have .mov files downloaded... that`s all I am interested in. However, the site requires a password flakes out on me when I try to save the pages...

Please help!

Can you try to logon the site in the Internal browser of Offline Explorer first and then start downloading it? This should help.

Unfortunately this doesn`t work. When I try this it kick off another window with the video and Offline Explorer doesn`t capture the video. I have even tried selecting the option to capture the next link pressed and it doesn`t work. I don`t mind sharing my sign-on info with you if you might be able to figure it out from there?

Thanks,

I looked for the E-mail about this site, but haven`t found it. Can you please let me know your username/password, so I could look at the site?

Oleg Chernavin 06/07/2005 07:17 am
I looked at the site. It is easy to download all movies. I would suggest you to logon the site first in the Internal Browser of Offline Explorer and then create a Project with the URL:

https://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modListing.asp?l=1

Set Level to 3.

Allow downloading from the starting server only and from all directories. This should be enough to download the site.

Oleg-

I`m still testing but believe the only files that are downloading are the demo files. Is there a way to test just one lesson or series of movies and not the whole site?

Thanks,

D

Oleg Chernavin 06/09/2005 04:46 am
Sure. Find a page on thats site with direct links to videos and create a new Project with this link and Level=1.

Hi Oleg. I did that. It brings down the pages, but just a shortcut link to them. I think what happens is something triggers that is copying in bulk and it just goes back to the login page. I`ve tried putting in my password and still no luck.

Thanks for your help and hope to get this resolved soon.

Perhaps Offline Explorer follows the logout link. You can stop it by adding it to the URL Filters section.

Im also wanting to download the movies from lynda.com but am just getting the demo movies even thru i had logged in first.
Do you know which files to filter.

Did anyone manage this let me know.
Oleg Chernavin 07/09/2005 04:06 am
Try filtering these URL’s…

http://store.lynda.com/

https://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/index.asp

https://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/lotfaqs.asp

https://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/lotrequirements.asp

https://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modlisting.asp

https://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modlogout.asp

https://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/usersignup.asp

I also only download the .mov files. This makes for a much quicker transfer of movies…

I don`t have access to the site, so please try and tell me exactly what fails.

Hi Oleg,

Would you be able to tell me how to download all the quicktime files from Lynda.com so I can watch it offline.
What do I have to do after I log in?
How to download the quicktime files?
How do you create the project?
Thank you for your time.

I cannot suggest you anything because I do not have access to the site. Just logon and start downloading it.

Did anyone manage to get this to work on lynda.com? I would gladly buy the program if someone can demonstrate that it can work with this site. I tried the above recommendations to no avail. Thanks

Can you please contact me directly at support@metaproducts.com ? I will need to have the logon information to help you with this.

I am also interested in downloading the MOV files.
I am not a java script expert but it seems to me that the MOV files are buried in java scripts.
The reason for my speculation is that I can playback the demo files fine (i.e. after the quicktime progress bar has filled up), but the supposedly downloaded MOV files are nowhere to be found on my local hard drive.
Oleg, what`s your thought on this?
Thanks in advance
Oleg Chernavin 09/21/2005 04:07 am
I got the password and I will work on this today.

Regarding MOV files - Offline Explorer should load them without a problem, unless they are streaming ones (using RTSP protocol). Can you please tell me a link to one of such MOV files?

I just made the following - I used the password provided by ScarEye user to logon the site in the Internal Browser of Offline Explorer Pro. Then I created a new Project with the MOV file URL above and downloaded it - the file was loaded and saved correctly.

Can you please try that?

I too have just signed up. But I don`t see how ScarEye got that direct URL to the MOV file.
What I have done in the past, though, when URLs are buried in java scripts, is use Project URL Snooper to reveal the actual URL`s.
The program is simple to use and understand. Once you have the correct URL for MOV, everything should be fine.
It looks like this can take sometime to finish but it`s still worth it.
ScarEye 09/21/2005 02:07 pm
How I got that URL was simple, When you click on a Movie you
want to watch, and it`s downloading it, in the player at the bottom
of the screen it will show you how much of the video has been
downloaded, Below that you will see the acutal URL it`s coming from.

Oleg,

Can you tell us what settings you used, what options you check off
So we can set it exactly the same way.

Thanks
ScarEye

ScarEye 09/21/2005 02:17 pm
Okay, I was able to download that video from the URL I
pasted using " Offline Explorer Pro " @ home I have
the Enterprise verison and it would not work on that
at all.

So I guess everyone needs to use the PRO version.

I got it to work in 1 second with the PRO verion. The
enterprise version wasn`t working..
ScarEye 09/21/2005 03:17 pm
Oleg, Is there a way we can specify in Explorer PRO, to
download everything in " http://movielibrary.lynda.com/video/learnflashmx2004 "

Because after that all you have is the chapter for example "chap5" then
the .move file for example "03.01.mov" so the full url would look like this.

http://movielibrary.lynda.com/video/learnflashmx2004/chap5/03.01.mov

Now, can we use like a wildcard or something ? Like this

http://movielibrary.lynda.com/video/learnflashmx2004/*.* <----- everthing after that download ?

Thanks
ScarEye
ScarEye 09/21/2005 08:24 pm
I retract my last statement I made, saying that Offline Explorer Enterprise
doesn`t work, after thinking about it I might have made some mistakes
in setting it up. Oleg would know better than me.

On another note, be careful on how many downloads you guys do
if you do to many lynda WILL put a limit on how much you can download
in a day. And don`t log on to your account from to many locations.

Download 1 or 2 movie at a time and try to do it from the same location
to be safe.

Thanks
ScarEye

It used to be very simple
I used DAP and when ever I clicked on a movie link it would download the complete movie with no problem, but then I had to reinstall DAP and either forgot how to set it right or Lynda made some changes so this wouldn`t work anymore Any body has tried this?

Sorry my English is not wary good open the tutorial and pause it end wait it will automatically save it in C:\Documents and Settings\jaa\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files and just go there and search for *.mov
