Enterprise freezes after downloading large number of files

hi, i noticed that the enterprise version has been consistently freezing my computer whenever the total number of downloaded files reaches 5000 in any given directory (counting all subdirectories and files). the crash will occur regardless whether or not the option to prevent download directory from overloading is turned on. can you confirm whether this is a known bug? if i pause the project and physically moved some of the files out of the download directory (so that the number of files in the directory will be below the 5000 limit), the crash problem disappears.

please advise.

Hello,

This is a known Windows limitation - it freezes when any program accesses an overloaded directory. To overome this issue, Offline Explorer Enterprise has a special setting - please open the Options dialog, go to File Locations section and check the "Prevent directories from overloading" box. Click OK button to save changes. This will force Offline Explorer to create subdirectories when the number of files in any directory exceeds 1000.

hi, oleg,

as indicated in my earlier post, i have already turned ON the "prevent overload" function. the problem persisted even with this option on (i erased the site and redownloaded the entire site after turning on the option). although the lowest level directories now have less than
1000 files, the higher level directories, when polled, will still contain over 1000 files if there are many subdirectories. can you give me further suggestion?

thanks.

Can you please try to run Offline Explorer Enterprise with the following command-line parameter:

oe.exe /NoMap

Would that make the work more stable?

hi, it appears to work. there is no freezing anymore. is there an option to turn no map off inside the program instead of giving it in the command line?

Well, no. It was made only for testing purposes. You can add it to the shortcut you are using to start Offline Explorer. I will also work on the issue.

hi, the /nomap option works if i have only one project going. but now i am trying to downloading two projects at the same time, the /nomap fails, and the mapping begins again, and the program freezes after a while. can you advise how to disable this even you have multiple project running?

Can you try to set 1 or 2 seconds delay between downloads (connections) in the Options dialog? Will this help?

Oleg.
