Is there a way to make OE download more than level 0 from archive.org ?
For example:
http://web.archive.org/web/20020220111039/www.kbtext.de/technik.htm
The long number is the time the page was saved. But the page is sent clean, with its original links in it, only extendet by a javascript, which inserts the archive.org part of the URL, if the mousepointer touches the link. Though the number inserted to every link is that of the actual page, the pages which then are sent cary their own number in the URL.
Offline Explorer seemingly is not able to use this script...
Best regards
Freider
Offline Explorer already supports downloading from web.archive.org sites. It disables the script and converts all links to correct locatons automatically. You only need to have 2.9 or later version.
The reason why it doesn`t load links beyond the Level=0 is simple - actual files are located in other directories of the web.archive.org site, so please enable loading from all directories. This should help.

Some other matters:
There are some errors in the german translation. Is this forum the location to report ?
Since prevention of caching (desired for some longer time, and gladly noticed its appearence) internal browser is randomly not displaying some pictures. (external IE is caching anyhow, although using OE-local-server. is there a way to prevent this?)
sometimes it would be very appreciated to reload a specific file directly from map view...
Thanks in advance
Frieder
You are welcome!

I will appreciate if you would make the correction. You can place it here or write us directly to support@metaproducts.com

I was trying to fix this, but with a partial success only. I will continue working on this issue.

It is easy - just select the file and click Download button.
Oleg.
German:
The Toolbar-button "Properties" is titled "Ordner" which means "Folder" and therefore is definitively wrong. Also the tooltip for it "Gewahlte Projektzugriffsrechte" makes no sense. (translated to english this would read: "chosen access authorisation") (though i can figure where the mess comes from; Similarities of the terms: selected / chosen, gewahlt / ausgewahlt, but of course not in every context...)
First I would suggest to change even the english tooltip "selected project properties". For me this rather says: "properties of some projects that i selected" or even "some properties of the selected project...". But even more important, this button not only displays the properties of a projet, it also displays the properties of project folders; and files and folders in map view.
"Properties of selected Object" would be much more clear i think.
"Eigenschaften" and "Eigenschaften des ausgewahlten Objektes" are the german equivalent terms for the button and tooltip.
And now smaller errors and esthetic corrections...
(of course it is often very difficult to translate accurate to german AND keep the result short....)
Project-Properties|Advanced|Scheduling: "Every":
Since the gender of houres and minutes in german is female, it must be "Jede". (though of course in german we dont say "jede zwei stunden", we say "alle zwei stunden". But in this context of the drop down list "jede" is ok.)
Project-Properties|Advanced|File Copies:
Since this menu is not called "copy(ing) files", it should also be just "Datei Kopien".
Project-Properties|Advanced:
"Fur Fortgeschrittene" sounds a little arrogant to the german ear. Since "Advanced" stands for "Advanced Settigns", and is rather meant like "additional settings" then "for higher educated people only", it should be "Weitere Einstellungen". But if this is a little to long, so we come to "Weitere" or "Erweitert". And that`s how Microsoft translated it in all its software and therefore we all are familiar with it...
Project-Properties|Advanced|Scheduling:
"Zeitplan Manageer" is to long and fancy. "Zeitplaner" (scheduler) coincides better. The overlapping titletext in this menu would also be solved.
Project-Properties|Advanced:
"Suppress Web site errors" still not translated. -> "Unterdrucke Website Fehler".
"Load server-side image maps" -> "Lade Serverseitige Image Maps"
"Explore all possible subdirectories". The existing "Untersuche alle moglichen Unterverzeichnisse" is truncated. But i have no idea for a shorter one. Maybe You better shorten the vertical spaces and let the right column go...
The direct, but bad translation of "Map" ("Karte") is still present on many places. "Baum" is much better.
Menu:
View|Toolbars|Standard Buttons
View|Toolbars|Gray Buttons
View|Toolbars|Flat style
Ansicht|Symbolleisten|Standardtasten
Ansicht|Symbolleisten|Graue Buttons
Ansicht|Symbolleisten|Flache Schaltflachen
Tasten, Buttons, Schaltflachen, Symbole...
Many different names for the same thing, so this is kinda tauto-tautological.
A GUI is the total metaphor of real things, every element is a symbol of something... so if one gets a little used to it, he stops talking about the symbols itself... so he uses tools istead of symbols and toolbars istead of iconbars...
English:
I suggest to rename "Standard Buttons" to either "Standard Tools" to make it more clear what it is about, or to "Standard bar" to make it more similar to the next equal element "Adress bar".
The item "Gray Buttons" should be "Gray Symbols" because that is what is switched; the color of the symbols on the buttons - the buttons themself keep their collor...
Now to the german jumble:
"Toolbars" equals "Werkz
Regarding F5, Alt-F5... - they are just quick ways to change the Project settings on how to check for file modifications. It is quite often that you need to open the Project Properties dialog, change the setting, click OK button and only then you can start download. These keys and submenu in toolbar simply offers a very quick way to do that.
Regarding the error when switching from Map to Projects tab - I tried over a dozen times to reproduce that, but Offline Explorer worked correctly, without failures. I will continue trying to see how the error can be reproduced.
Regarding updated version - do you use Pro or Enterprise edition?
Thank you.
Oleg.
