DE 1.9 does not tell you if file has already been downloaded

I have been using DE 1.7 for some time, then uninstalled that and installed DE 1.9 today. I have WinMe and use IE6.

I'm disapointed that the new version does not tell you if the file name you are about to download already exists in the folder you are going to download it to. While I can see that this could be useful on some ocassions, I prefer to be told that there is an existing file of the same name, as this usually means I've already downloaded it. (I often download files from Project Gutenberg, and there is no point in having duplicates with the same content).

Is there any way of turning this feature on and off please?

Apart from that, still a great program.
