Hi,

I`m running Windows 98SE, IE SP-1, Download Express version 1.6 SR1 Build 273.

Every time I use DE, it adds a shortcut icon to the bottom of my Start Menu. Anyone know how to put a stop to this? Appreciate it.

Regards, Bob

This was annoying me, too. This is what I did to resolve it.

Open the Windows Registry Editor and locate the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MetaProducts\Download Express

Note the value "ProgramMenuEntry." Whatever data is in this value will be added to the Start Menu whenever Download Express closes. The default is "MetaProducts Download Express," but if you change it to the name of an existing Start Menu folder (such as "Applications," or "Internet" as I have done) then Download Express just re-creates an existing folder whenever it closes. It doesn`t change the shortcuts in the folder.

Meaney,

You do not need to use Registry editor. Just install Download Express over the existing version and specify Applications or Internet submenu in addition to the default "MetaProducts Download Express" program group name.
