DE performances with Modem connexion...

Hi,

Yesterday afternoon, I was testing DE with an LAN/T1 connexion and I was very surprised of performances.
Yestreday night I performed a few tests on my home modem connexion. And, it was much more difficult to point out a increase of donwload speed...

So my questions are :

- what are the best settings for a modem 56k connexion ( max number of simultaneous connexions )?
- Are providers` QoS involved in performances ?
- Which parameters have I to take into account, in order to increase my download speed ?

Best Regards

7-10 threads are enough usually.

Some providers prohibit several connections from the same IP address. So, you will be able to download such file using single connection.
Some FTP and Web servers don`t support download resuming. DE will use the single connection for such downloads.
In these cases DE will not increase the download perfomance.

These parameters are different for different servers. You can make several tests for 7, 10 and 15 threads to determine the best option for your connection and servers you use most times.

Thank U for answers...

Just to be more precise... My ISP seems not to prohibit several cnx, as I saw 6 active cnx during download progress. But, I noticed speed rate, in DE main control panel, was average 6 kb/s.

About the speed rate indication : is it the total speed rate or the average speed rate per cnx ?

Best regards and sorry for the great number of questions... ( Eh it`s time to work now ! )

It is the total speed rate. It calculated based on the last several minutes.

Good luck!
