no unattended download

Hello,

I tried download express and find it very useful, especially the speed limitation.

After downloading some smaller files, I started a 600mb iso ftp-download during the night. Next morning 10% were completed and there was a dialog box "no more connection attempts left" or similar.

Does that mean download express cant be used for unattended downloads? Or can I switch off all dialog-boxes somewhere?

Dear Holger,

Please go to Start button menu, Programs | Metaproducts Download Express | Download Express Options dialog, Connection tab. Please increate the value of "Limit number of retries" to 100-150, then click OK.

I use the German language, there you translated connection with "Wahlversuche". This word is used in German for dialing into the Internet by Modem. Thats why I did not find this box myself; but I could have looked in the manual ;-)
If you want to fix the translation, use "Verbindung". Email me if you want to know more.

Another question: How can I startup download express at boottime (to let it automatically resume transfers)?

Just add C:\WINNT\system32\MetaProducts\dep.exe to autostart?

You don`t need to add it to Startup menu. Download Express listens all your clicks, but appears only for monitoring file types (DE Options | Integration | Accept file types edit box) or Ctrl+Alt clicks.

Download Express checks the filename extension when you click on the link
and opens download dialog only for monitoring file types. If you want to send any link to DE, please depress Ctrl+Alt keys and click it.

Hello,

maybe its not clear what I want.

Say, I download a 600mb iso-file. At 200mb my computer crashes, I have to reboot.

After reboot, DE should start and resume the transfer. Can I do this?

I tried to call DE manually, I get the window but see no way to resume the download (that was running when I rebooted).

Please open Windows Start menu button, Programs | Metaproducts Download Express | Incomplete Downloads. Do you have the shortcut to resume the corresponded download in this folder?

I could place the link to autostart, but I would have to do it for every download; wouldnt I?
