i am using ISDN to hook up to the internet (using internet-by-call services in germany). i was wondering if you could recommend how many threads i can/should go up to in HIGH mode? currently, i have it set to ten. i have set it to 15 to try to squeeze more out of the pipe, but it seems to reduce transfer speed by doing so. is that right? or is it a figment of my imagination.
would appreciate some input and thanks for a great product!
greets,
doon
p.s. any news on when the next release will be (beta or otherwise)?
I think that the best to determine optimal number of threads is the sequence of tests. ISDN connections may work different, so a recommendation will work for someone, but not for your. Please select the server from which you download more frequently and download the same file several times, say, in 3, 7, 10, 15 threads. Then please select the number of threads with the highest download speed (shortest time) and use it as constant setting.
We plan to publish the new Download Express version (1.3 Release) after the releasing of Mass Downloader 2.4.
Sincerely,
Alexander.
