Internet Download Manager (IDM) supports Filesonic, why not Mass Downloader (MD) ?

IDM released an update FOUR DAYS AGO, so that IDM now works with Filesonic.com downloads.

On Feb 11, (take a look at the topic by me, listed seventh down below this one on this page)
I have asked for you guys to support Filesonic and have tried many WORK AROUNDS
but maybe it's time for MD to spend a whole eight dollars and buy a two day account at filesonic
and either update or supply us MD loyalists a fix for this issue.

I purchased IDM "BEFORE" I purchased MD and I have not used IDM since.

I guess this week I go back to Internet Download Manager.

There are THOUSANDS of users who have need for MD to support Filesonic.

Please and kindly invest the eight dollars and provide the solution.

I would really apprectiate to stay with Mass Downloader.

The current build of Mass Downloader (can be downloaded from http://www.metaproducts.com/files/Massdown.zip) works with the Filesonic Premium account without any problem.

In order to download from Filesonic please add your Premium account details to the Mass Downloader Site Manager dialog for "filesonic.com" site. After this just copy file URL and paste it to Mass Downloader.

Please write us if you still have any problem.

I don't understand. When I try to use Filesonic, using this version of Mass Downloader, it first gives me a filename like this: bf87eeaf154c336d404599221c0f712e03b8cff9.* If I then type in, e.g. temp.rar, I get a 1kb file containing the words "bad hash". This is running MD 3.8.850

What do I need to do?

Hi Alexander,

I can't get that far. The save box won't accept a filetype of asterisk "*"

E.g. this morning I clicked on a link and MD wanted to save it as "11e9ee27bc88d05534bcb6a6b2cb0f603cd88356.*"

If I use tell Firefox to save it as a file, then I get a sensible filename.

Update: This seems to be an interaction with Linksafe.me and Firefox. When I use Internet Explorer, I get a proper filename which I can put into Mass downloader.

It looks like I have a workaround!

I get that same scenario MORE THAN YOU WOULD BELIEVE.

I have tried MANY different workarounds but lately it seems NOTHING is gonna work.......

........UNLESS..............

I shutdown Mass Downloader (after unchecking both the MONITOR CLIPBOARD AND
MONITOR BROWSER CLICKS) and then retry the file.

Sure 'nuff, whamo, the file d'loads perfectly through Internet Explorer 9.

For some time I really thought it was IE8 so that's why I upgraded. Not the case though.

Yup, Alexander's reply will be very much usefull to me as well.

hmmmmm..................

well, it seems that filesonic don't like to allow too many threads from one user.

I changed this in Site Manager for filesonic.........

limit number of threads .................... 9

and I set Mass downloader to only TWO files started at a time.

it has at least allowed me to get filesonic on the go with two files at a time.

any other advice anyone has to offer here to share ideas would be GREAT !!!!!

Yes, it seems Filesonic has the limit of simultaneous channels even for premium users. It would be interesting to make the same tests for Filesonic using IDM...
