Hi Metaproducts,

We have now upgraded our 2.6 version to 2.7, but found out that the file massdown.dat are now placed in C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\MetaProducts\Mass Downloader

Is there a way to change this path so the massdown.dat again can be placed into the massdownloader directory ?

Thanks in advance.

Dear D.Nielsen,

Thank you for writing us.
Unfortunately, it is impossible in the current version.
Could you please describe me your reasons? We can add a hidden option (switching through the Registry) to the next version.
Thank you.

Sincerely,
Alexander.

Hi Metaproducts,

The reason why we want to have a fixed path to the massdown.dat is because we are using this file to make scheduled downloads.

Everyday we download 194 files from different directories (differs in date), and we thought that this might be the only way to get this automated. So everyday we are deleting the index directory and fill in the new downloads paths and names in the massdown.dat and then start the massdownloader.

If you have a better way to implement a scheduled process we are all ears.

Ok, I see. We will add the special option for you to the 2.7 SR1 version.

D. Nielsen,

Yes it is added to Mass Downloader 3.0.
We made this feature accessible for advanced users, because we have a couple requests only (one from you.)
To change the Mass Downloader data folder please:
1. Close Mass Downloader
2. Open Regedit.exe, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MetaProducts\Mass Downloader registry key and change the "AppDataPath" parameter to the desired disk folder
3. Close Regedit.exe
4. Copy files from Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\MetaProducts\Mass Downloader\ to the folder you selected
5. Run Mass Downloader

Please note that the Application Data folder is hidden usually, so you should set up your Explorer to show hidden files to find it.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Alexander
