Current Speed, Download speed, is not current!

While downloading something, I look at the download speed a lot to see what kind of txr I am getting, but looking it really gives me no info b/c the number listed is the average txr speed, which is easily gotten by dividing what has been downloaded and the time taken. Would it not make more sense to list the real current speed for each download, not the average.

It also does the same thing under the speed monitor tab, its sits right at say 200kb/s, but when I load up another program, its bounces all over, ranging from 5-300kb/s.

This also causes another problem when you get to the end of a file and say you are 99% there, but the speed dies down alot, to say maybe 5kb/s. Now because the average is say at 100kb/s because you got good speed at the beginning, the program sits there and says you are getting 100kb/s and are at 99%, but nothing is actually happening. Sort of annoying to me.

Could you make the speed the real current speed and not the average.

Dear Ryan,

Thank you for writing us.

This number shows the speed for the last 5 seconds. Mass Downloader divides the amount of received kilobytes into five and show the result.

The average speed is calculating basing on the last two minuts. This give the good evaluation of the speed tendency. We plan to use this value for the calculation of the estimated time left, but show the speed of the last second.

Thank you.
