1. Can we have the capability to add a short text caption next to a button? (If there are 5 shortcuts to excel files, it can get confusing. The only way to distinguish is to hover over the button so the name of the file appears.)
2. Is there a capability for more than one bar?

Still testing.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Yes please!

Also many moons ago you were looking at the possibility of
dual monitor support. <g>

DeskTool now seems to be be much improved in CPU
requirement and no interaction with other programs.
On my old PC CPU could reach 12% at rest, now it`s
0% rising to 40% for a fraction of a second during
large folder launch on a slightly faster machine.

Folder support is very good IMO now much better than
the MS alternative. (and the old workaround)

Please will you give some thought to having a default
icon directory/icl/dll/folder type library to act as an extra
user selected cache in addition to Shell32.dll?
** (below)Then when a user selects an icon, a copy could be
placed and quickly called from the cache or icon directory
for use or tagging to a new button. I often use a
matched icon set such as from http://www.foood.net
so a sticky method to jump to a collection would be very
welcome. Perhaps separate quick select buttons for
Shell32.dll, user1.dll, user2.icl, folder1icon etc

Likewise another button next to "Select icon" would
be useful to set a System wide file association icon.

** As an example of style I use AcqURL from http://www.acqurl.com
to store favorites. Acqurl has a both a local icon collection and
user selection, also separate automatic Favicons directories are
maintained for each menu database file.

You bet!

We will try to realize the specified function (optionally) in the next version of DeskTool.
However, please specify, how much place should be left to display the full text and part of it.

> 2. Is there a capability for more than one bar?

We studied this question and probably this opportunity will be added in one of the next versions.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Hello Roz,

Multy monitors support is being tested now and it will be necessarily added in the near future.

Folders support will be improved in the near future and expanded at the expense of support of system folders, etc.

Thanks for the detailed analysis and suggestions. We will try to study them
in depth and to realize as far as possible.

Yes, absolutely it should be an option. Some people may not need it. I use about 10 excel files regularly and need the text option to distinguish between the files (too many different icons are confusing).

Essentially, the icon and text are combined as one button. Users can enter as much text as they want, it just makes the button bigger. So the bar would look something like...

[icon] Q1 expense [icon] Q2 expense report [icon] budget [icon] fiscal year 2004 sales report

You get the idea. The more text you put, you get less buttons.....

If you would like I can e-mail you a screenshot of how another program handles the text and icon together. Just e-mail me and let me know where to send it.
